The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) oversees the education of over 560,000 students in Oregon's K-12 education system. ODE encompasses early learning, public preschool programs, the state School for the Deaf, regional programs for children with disabilities, and education programs in Oregon youth corrections facilities.

Boarding schools do not have to register with the State of Oregon unless they are contracting with a public school district for services. 

The Oregon Department of Education has high school graduation requirements designed to better prepare each boarding school student for success in college, work, and citizenship. To earn a diploma, boarding school students will need to: complete 24 credit requirements, demonstrate proficiency in the Essential Skills, meet the personalized learning requirements.
