Stone Mountain School is located in the Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Founded in 1990, the therapeutic boarding school is part of the Aspen Education Group and addresses the learning and behavioral challenges of boys ages 11-17.
Committed to the academic and social success of its students, SMS uses a holistic approach combining counseling, structure, individual academic support along with a healthy diet, exercise and medication. As an alternative to traditional schools, the program employs multi-sensory educational methods to help students excel in reading and a memory enhancement program.
The school was renovated in 2009 and made major improvements to students’ living quarters. Enrollment is year-round and students are permitted four visits home for holidays each year.
