The UNC School of the Arts was founded in 1963. Today this publicly-funded school has over 1,100 students enrolled in high school, undergraduate, and graduate studies in fields such as art, filmmaking, and drama. The school has a 77-acre campus in Winston-Salem, NC.
Their official mascot is the Fighting Pickle, even though there are no officially sanctioned sports teams. The school’s biggest annual event is the all school musical, an occasion where students from all 5 of the conservatory’s art schools come together to produce a Broadway-style production.
In-state high school tuition is free, and in-state tuition for the college is between $8-9,000. Out-of-state tuition is over $14,000 for the high school, and $21-22,000 for college.
