Phillips Exeter Academy is a prestigious private co-ed college preparatory school located in Exeter, NH. Most famous for being the preferred school of the upper class and the politically elite, it was founded in 1781 by John Phillips. It is one of the oldest schools in the United States.

Academically, it is associated with the Harkness Method which encourages student and teacher interaction by sitting together at a round table. The average class size is 12 students. The curriculum is based on science, math, English, history, and the humanities amid a liberal arts framework. The course of study exceeds AP standards.

Boarders and day students both attend. Annual tuition for boarders is $46,900 and for day students is $33,110. Needs based financial aid in the form of grants that do not have to be repaid are available.
