★ Promise Village
Promise Village is a boys home and therapeutic boarding school dedicated to improving the lives of struggling boys and their families. They provide a safe, caring, structured, relationship-based, clinically sophisticated program of the highest quality in a positive home-like environment.
This powerful combination creates opportunities for meaningful and lasting change. Promise Village’s therapeutic setting is a 70-acre ranch where boys, ages 10-17, can overcome challenges, discover their strengths, grow in character, heal from hurts, restore family relationships, develop spiritually, and improve academically.
Promise Village uses an eclectic approach to treatment and focuses on healthy relationships. It is based on current research that shows relationships to be the number one predictor of positive treatment outcomes. This approach integrates multiple treatment modalities into the treatment program and allows for the individualized needs of each resident.
The Promise Village Approach builds on the positive character traits outlined in the “PROMISES” Character-Building Stage System and promotes growth and change through learning to prosper in each of these areas. A nurturing clinical atmosphere helps to foster the development of trust, confidence, respect, responsibility, self-worth, and self-control in the lives of the residents. Our multi-modal approach includes individual, family, and group therapies in combination with milieu and animal/equine assisted therapy. Promise Village’s program is therapeutically intensive and residents are closely supervised by therapists and Life Coaches who model, motivate, and mentor. We are privileged and honored to be a part of seeing radically positive changes occur in the lives of children and teens, who come to realize the wonderful potential that lies within them.
Promise Village, in cooperation and partnership with West Highland Christian Academy, provides for the educational needs of the residents. During the initial assessment phase, the student’s school records will be reviewed to make sure the strengths of the program meet the needs of the child/teen. An educational plan will be developed to ensure that the appropriate classes are determined to further the student’s progress and any supportive services are put in place to meet their needs. Our Therapists and Life Coaches act as liaisons to the school and provide the assistance and support needed to help assure a positive and productive experience for the student. The INFORMATION NOW data management system gives the Promise Village staff and parents a quick time review of how their child is doing in their classes. This gives both parties the opportunity to see the gains and struggles that the resident may be having.
Promise Village offers residential therapy and animal-assisted behavioral therapy for troubled teens to improve behavior of teenagers struggling with anger, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), attention deficit, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance abuse, depression, reactive attachment disorder (RAD), intermittent explosive disorder (IED), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, self-harm, or rebellion.
The relationship-based model of care in our therapeutic boarding school lets the resident know that we are there to help them in any way possible as they work through their issues. We are truly focused on “alliance” rather than just compliance. Our Life Coaches, Therapists, and ancillary staff are upbeat, loving, and invested in fostering positive relationships with the residents and families we serve. We know that the combination of our external environment and the importance of caring relationships are catalysts to nurturing internal change.
“We watched our son go from a young man that only wanted to say whatever he needed to get what he wanted in the world, to a person that could genuinely care for others. We thank God for the experience, insight, life changes and spiritual direction that we received from our time invested with Promise Village.” – Mark and Marie S.
