★ Prayer Mountain Boys Academy
Prayer Mountain Boys Academy is a year-round, faith-based program for adolescent boys struggling with anger, defiance, minor substance abuse, and other destructive choices. The program enrolls boys ages 13-17 who have life-controlling issues or have gotten off track in life.
Prayer Mountain Boys Academy centers on relationships; the staff understand the situations facing these young men, many from personal experience, and they love the boys like family. The goal is to help them to grow in their relationships with themselves and with each other and, in time, to heal broken relationships with their parents and families.
Education can open doors for young men, so Prayer Mountain prepares them well for the workforce or further educational pursuits through an accredited junior high and high school program. Education is only the beginning of what our Christian boarding school offers, however. Leadership training is emphasized. Boys leave the school equipped with life skills that will continue to support their positive choices in all areas of life.
Prayer Mountain provides a self-paced curriculum, along with one-on-one instruction, allowing boys to gain mastery of subjects and earn missed credits toward a high school diploma. Students are dual enrolled in Alpha Omega Academy (AOA). Dual enrollment allows our students to be fully enrolled in our school while simultaneously taking online courses through Alpha Omega Academy. In addition to the oversight and assistance provided by our Prayer Mountain Boys Academy staff, AOA provides certified distance learning teachers, a quality computer-based curriculum, record keeping and a wide variety of courses.
Prayer Mountain therapy involves identifying why inappropriate behaviors are occurring, and then addressing erroneous assumptions that may be in place. Each student is specially assigned to the caseload of a Prayer Mountain Boys Academy on-site counselor. Along with individual and group counseling, this counselor is also responsible to ensure a smooth delivery of all of Prayer Mountain Boys Academy’s services to the student and family. Group counseling occurs on a regular basis, guided by the pastoral counselors on staff here at Prayer Mountain Boys Academy. Students learn to constructively express their thoughts, ideas, and questions in an environment where each member is accepted and respected.
“When I committed my son to the program and myself to the program and committed to the Word of God, things began to happen. They did not happen overnight. With love and intensive counseling from the Teen Challenge staff my son began to blossom and became more confident day by day. Today, he is happy. The anger is gone. Joy has come. Today he has a bright future with unlimited possibilities. Most important he knows and loves God. Thank you Teen Challenge for giving me my son back!”
