The Ranch for Boys is a Christ-centered Teen Challenge residential boys ranch and therapeutic boarding school for troubled boys, located in Vero Beach, Florida. They believe in the potential within each boy no matter how much trouble they are causing for themselves. The Christian staff bring positive goals and purpose to boys who are struggling with life-controlling issues such as anger, minor substance abuse or trouble with the law, or lack of respect for authority.

The therapeutic and academic school at Vero Beach Boys Ranch gives at-risk boys a new perspective and a new start toward a successful and fulfilling life.

The Ranch for Boys has a well-equipped gym, weight room, soccer field, baseball diamond, pool, fishing ponds, horses, and professional fishing boats for frequent fishing trips in the area waterways and ocean. They take every opportunity to form strong relationships with each student and regularly see life-change taking place while the boys are involved in these physical activities.

Hiking, canoeing, camping, and outdoor activities are usually not a part of the lives of most young people today, but they are with the boys at Vero Beach. It is through these fun outings that we so often are able to get the root of the issues in a boy’s life. It’s an easy place to talk and share hurts and pains; then the campfire that evening gives opportunity to further talk and pray for one another. These trips are memory makers that last a lifetime!

Academic Curriculum

The school offers Dual Enrollment through Alpha Omega Academy which is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement; an accrediting division of AdvancED, the world’s most trusted and recognized accrediting organization. Professional transcripts and progress reports are maintained and available upon graduation from the Teen Challenge program.

In the classroom, the state-of-the-art, web-based Ignitia curriculum from Alpha Omega Publications is used. This Christian curriculum features a media-rich learning environment with 3D animation, video clips, and other exciting multimedia learning tools. With this flexible, innovative instructional program, we are able to customize lessons to fit individual needs for students and to help them to achieve their high school diploma.

Therapeutic Approach

Therapy is ongoing all day, every day. Individual counseling sessions are not as frequent as the many 10-15 minute life coaching that takes place during school, work, or a sporting event. As was once said, the outside of a horse is good for the inside of a man. A simple horse ride can provide a life changing conversation in a young man’s life at our boys ranch. The same can be said for a day on the lake fishing with a good mentor.

There are many variables that surround a person who is abusing drugs and alcohol, causing them to continue on the path of destruction. Through equine therapy, Vero Beach teaches the boys to care for something else in their life, and that has a profound impact on their own actions and motivations.

Testimonial

“It was the best decision we have made in our entire life.  Our son’s life was saved from destruction on this earth and for eternity. The education was the finest he could have gotten anywhere.  He became a self-disciplined student with motivated study habits and finished with a 3.9 GPA. He now has the desire and compassion to serve in his community and church, as well as tutoring and mentoring younger kids.” — Parent of Former Student
