Bolles is a day and boarding private college preparatory school, which also includes pre-kindergarten and middle school. The school was first established in 1933 as a boy’s military school, but in 1962, Bolles had its last military graduating class.
In 1972, the doors of this all male school were opened to admit females as well, and the school became co-educational.
The original campus of Bolles has now been renamed The San Jose Campus and has several locations in Jacksonville and Point Verde. Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida with over 850,000 people.
The school operates on two semesters split into two quarters a year. There is a remarkable teacher to student ration at 1:9, and over 50 percent of the teachers hold doctorate and masters degrees.San Jose has remained a private and accredited school.
