The Hotchkiss School, located in Lakeville, Connecticut, was founded in 1891. It is a coeducational school for grades 9 through 12, and also hosts a small number of postgraduate students. It offers both day school and boarding.

The small class sizes and student / teacher ratio of 5:1 allows for a more interactive learning experience.

In addition to the core curriculum of traditional courses like English and Mathematics, the school offers several Advanced Placement courses. There is also a Summer Program with courses focused on Music and Theater, as well as Science.

The Bearcat Athletics department hosts both Interscholastic and Intramural programs, with sports ranging from basketball and hockey, to tennis and water polo. The Mars Athletic Center includes an indoor track, squash courts, and two hockey rinks.

Tuition ranges from $41,000 for day students up to $48,000 for boarding. Approximately 35% of students receive financial aid assistance.
